Fan the Flame Date Nite - March 16, 2006
Our fifth Fan The Flame Date Nite was held at the Quality Inn in Lancaster, PA.
Seventeen couples enjoyed an served buffet dinner of ham, and stuffed chicken breasts, fresh vegetables, a salad bar, and a wonderful selection of cakes and pies.
Our table game- being as though the next day was St. Patricks Day - was called the Shamrock Game. There were over 15 clues that could only be answered by using letters found in "Shamrock." Oddly enough, more than 75% of the couples answered every one right! (We need to find a harder table game...!)
Our topic for the evening was "Oneness". We illustrated the absurdity of purchasing a new home, and then only living in 1 or 2 rooms of that room. Far too many couples only let their spouses know a little bit about them, but not enough to be vulnerable. When we look at oneness, a major factor is intimacy. Not just from a physical perspective, but also Intellectual, creative, recreational, work, crisis, commitment, spiritual, and emotional.
Couples then took an Intimacy evaluation. Aftwerward, they discussed what areas needed strengthening, and what areas needed to be built. Couples then spent some “knee to knee, nose to nose” time and talked more specifically about how to develop a plan of strengthening an area of intimacy that may be weak.
