Learn about developing, implementing and sustaining a marriage mentoring ministry. Marriage Mentors (Couples) are encouraged to build relationships, provide healthy role models (not perfect), share life experiences and encourage younger couples in their marriage journey. This is a great way for churches to empower couples to serve and help build healthy marriages, which produce strong families in their congregation and communities. Brad Aldrich From Marital Distress to Marital Success -Part #1 Dr. Robb Palmer Family Ministry in a Broken Age Bill Melone How can churches best help families when so many marriages and families are breaking up? Hiding our heads in the sand or hoping for the return of the good old days are understandable but inadequate responses to hurting people. This workshop will address some of the ways in which churches can be fully involved in meeting the needs of families in God-honoring ways. The Do's and Don'ts of Ministering to Single-Parent Families Dr's. Jeff and Judi Parziale The majority of single-parent families do not attend church regularly. This workshop will explain single-parent dynamics and highlight key resources and strategies for reaching single parents and their children. Called Together, Pre- and Postmarital Couple to Couple Mentoring Steve Prokopchak Do you have a burden for Christ centered marriage unions? What are the true divorce statistics? How is the church to respond to these statistics? How do we properly prepare a couple for marriage and then provide that most important, but almost unheard of, aftercare for the newlyweds? This session gives you a very God - honoring, practical methodology for pastoral leaders and "lay" couples along with a mentoring program that both prepares and follows up with couples after they say "I do." Called Together also covers the challenges of marriage after divorce, intercultural marriage and when seniors remarry. Needs of Adoptive Families within the Church/ Parallels of the Christian and Adoption Journey. Kelly Kirk-Wentzel Parenting Through Heartbreak Pastor Omar Zook How do you as a parent work through the difficulty of your son or daughter turning away from you and rejecting the values you have tried to instill? This workshop will address this question and provide practical help from several dimensions, e.g. spiritual, emotional, and relational. Leading Parents to Connect the Euphoria of Church with the Real Life of Home Pastor Paul Perreault We have all been there… we teach our hearts out to our 2yr olds – 6th graders on a Sunday morning only to see a parent throw the kid’s paperwork in a near by trash can after class. We think, “What a missed opportunity at home.” This discussion-oriented workshop will change your ministry goals from kid focused to family focused. We will talk directly about coaching parents to develop home strategies that will empower their children spiritually.

This workshop is designed to bring insight and understanding to what contributes to successful restoration and what does not. It also provides a guide to lead families off the road to destruction and on the road to victory. The "House Model" - Pre-marital Counseling Fred Raupp Consider a simple model for presenting the biblical design for marriage in a pre-marital or marriage enrichment counseling setting. We’ll consider how this tool can help you quickly identify the “hot spots” in a couple’s relationship and seek to understand the limitations as well. Then, we’ll look at how you can use a house as a simple model of a biblical marriage. This can then form a framework for presenting a biblical philosophy of marriage over several sessions. Together these tools will help you address both the biblical/philosophical and the practical/actual aspects of relationship.
