Grandparents Day
Grandmothers
make the best homemade meals, and Grandfathers are ready to play at the
drop of a hat, so it is fitting to take a moment and focus this edition
on them!
As you may know, Grandparents Day is just around
the corner – September 9th. Here are some suggestions
that you can do as a family to celebrate with the grandparents in your
life.
- Draw a Picture of your grandparents
- Make a special Card for Grandparents Day
and give it to them.
- Make extra cards and deliver them to a
nursing Home or retirement center.
- Make a keepsake photo album.
- Make a special meal for them.
- Learn how to say "Grandmother"
and "Grandfather" in other languages.
- Put on a special play or performance for
your grandparents.
- Interview your grandparents about their
life. For example:
- Where were they born? What year?
- Did they have a pet growing up?
- Did they get an allowance? How much?
- What were the costs of basic items
(bread, milk, candy, gas, etc…)?
- What were their favorite games?
- What chores did they have?
- Did they get good grades in school?
- How old was Grandpa when he married
Grandma?
- What makes them proud of their son or
daughter?
- What advice would they give you?
- Make a special video/ DVD to record their
answers.
- Create a family tree.
- If you can’t do this in
person talk with them on the phone.
- If appropriate, share with them your
thanks for the legacy of faith they
have left to you and your family.
Hopefully, you have
been inspired to take a moment and let the grandparents in your life know
that you were thinking about them.
Showing that you care enough to go out of your way for your
grandparents on this special day will mean so much. Remember it is the little things that
you do that add up to the surmountable happiness that you give.
Blessings,
