Dear Friends,
It's All About Communication...
How are your discussion starters
going? Are you learning new things about each other? The key
to a good relationship is the ability to communicate
well. In the last couple of issues, we have been looking at
hobbies, spiritual gifts, etc... This week let's progress from the
Bunny Hill to the Intermediate slope!
For those of you just joining us, we
feel that just as ski slopes progress from bunny hills to black diamonds,
so conversation starters in marriage range from simple to sizzling. But
with greater risk comes greater adventure. So
hit the "slopes" with these questions on your next date out and
watch your relationship take off!
Level 3: Intermediate slope
1.
When you
were a teenager, how important to you was being popular?
2. Describe some dream accomplishments for yourself at ages 40, 60, 80.
3. If we were to read a book together, what kind would it be? Why?
Should we make that happen?
4. Do you ever feel that I'm critical of you? How can I avoid that?
5. When was the last time you cried? Why?
6. What one thing that I do for you makes you feel truly loved?
7. What are you learning in your times alone with God?
8. What do you think it means to be "called" by God to do
something? Have you ever felt that calling?
9. At what times do you feel overwhelmed? What can I do to help?
10. Do I ever give you
the silent treatment? If so, how does that make you feel?
11. When we have an
argument, does it seem as though I'm really listening to what you say? or am I more interested in what I have to say?
12. Do you ever
sense that I put conditions on my love for you? If so, what are the
conditions you feel I place on you?

In the next issue in
April, we'll look at Level 4 - "Rough Terrain Ahead," and
then close out in May with slope #5 - "For Experts Only!"
Hopefully by the time you go through these questions, adapted from Dr.
Gary Rosberg's book 40
Unforgettable Dates with your Mate, you'll have a better
understanding of what is special about the spouse that God has given
you.
