Dear Friends,
If you are considering making a New Year’s
resolutions, we suggest that the two of you make one resolution that will
enhance your marriage. According
to Bob and Sheri Stritof “The best ways
to say "I love you" are usually in simple, everyday, seemingly
unimportant ways. Leo Buscaglia, who wrote and
taught about love, said "Words and deeds that say 'You enrich my
life' go on forever." Here are some suggestions to get your own
creative juices flowing so that your love for one another will go on
forever.
ü Treat your spouse to a Fan the Flame Date Nite! (shameless promotion…)
ü Make sure you say "I Love You" at
least once each day to your spouse.
ü whisking your spouse away for an unexpected
weekend alone, star-gazing together, taking a
walk in the rain with one another.
ü Share memories by looking at old photographs and
talking about memories you share together.
ü Schedule a day to just be leisurely together.
ü Listen.
ü Share why you love your spouse.
ü Give the gift of your time by performing
trivial chores for your spouse, such as folding the clothes, running an
errand, washing the car, etc.
ü Don't forget anniversaries and birthdays.
ü Smile.
ü Blow a kiss from across the room.
ü Dance with your spouse in your own living room.
ü Hold hands.
ü
Plan and cook a meal together.
ü
Leave meaningful
notes to your spouse in unusual places, such as:
~ On an egg in the
fridge
~
On your spouse’s pillow.
~ In your
spouse’s shoe.
~ On the computer
or television.
~ In a coat pocket.
~ On the
dashboard of your spouse’s car.”
~ Be creative and
have fun!
This is a good reminder for us to remember how
important it is to maintain meaningful expressions of your affection to
your spouse. These “deposits” you
make into your spouse’s emotional bank will go a long way in developing a
healthy and viable marriage relationship!
Let 2006 be extra special for you!
